Although there have been many contradictions, President Truman's reasonings for the bombings on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were justified due to the casualties of Pearl Harbor, to maintain the safety of the nation, and to stop the Japanese empire from growing stronger.
President Truman will forever be known as the President that decided to drop the atomic bombs on two Japan cities; Hiroshima and Nagaski. Many have mixed emotions on whether or not this was the right decision on his part. "Yesterday, December 7,1941- a date which will live in infamy...", this quote was said by former President Roosevelt as he notified the public about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Our country was directly attacked by the Japanese Empire killing not only 2,335 servicemen and women but also killing 68 civilians. Thus bringing the U.S. into World War II and putting our nation in jeopordy. Japan was growing more powerful as it started to take over other counrties such as Manchuria, the Phillipines, and even parts of China. The devistation due to the dropping of the atomic bombs brought the Empire to surrender.
